"Gîte Ami"

The City is repealing previous resolutions to transition the 'Gîte Ami - Stabilisation' project (20 affordable rooms for people experiencing homelessness) to the PHAQ program. The City will provide $1,304,539.64 in financial support, plus up to $137,502.60 for land decontamination, and grant a property tax exemption.

Council approved municipal funding of $1,304,539.64 and an additional $137,502.60 for decontamination costs to support the 'Gîte Ami – Stabilisation' project at 43, rue Marie-Le Franc. This project, which will provide 20 affordable housing units for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, is now being pursued under the Quebec Affordable Housing Program (PHAQ).

The Commission reviewed the city's homelessness response during the winter, noting that increased shelter capacity and improved coordination between partners successfully met demand. The city is preparing a new call for tenders for the management of the Guertin site and has contracted Réhabex for social mediation services. Future discussions will address the potential for a permanent year-round shelter and the financial implications of such a project.

The City is authorizing the firm CIMA+ to file necessary environmental and municipal service permit applications for infrastructure work on Rue Morin. This project is part of a previously approved commitment to support the construction of a warming shelter and associated municipal services near the Gîte Ami site.
