The PowerPoint document "Revision of the Land Use and Development Plan – OGAT agriculture component" is presented to the members. The presentation is broken down into the following sub-themes:

  • Current situation;
  • Scope of the project;
  • Methodology;
  • Key steps and timeline;
  • Governance;
  • Next actions.

After the presentation, questions, answers, and comments were formulated regarding, among other things:

  • It is noted that the Loi sur la protection du territoire et des activités agricoles (LPTAA) has been amended, and that cities now have the opportunity to implement a royalty bylaw on unused agricultural land. This avenue will be evaluated as part of the agricultural land occupancy strategy which is in the work plan of the Plan de développement de la zone et des activités agricoles (PDZAA). Fallow land throughout the territory will be the subject of a general portrait. From there, it will be possible to evaluate the best tools to implement;
  • It is also noted that another amendment to the LPTAA stipulates that agricultural lots within one kilometer of the urbanization perimeter can only be sold to agricultural producers;
  • The portrait of water needs is linked to agricultural uses and the potential for developing the agricultural territory, and will be used, among other things, to plan and prioritize investments in the agricultural territory. This portrait is also linked to the City of Gatineau's Water Management Plan.
